19th June 2008 - James Sharp Park - Canungra - Qld

Platypuses Galore - This well groomed park just 4k South of Canungra on Beechmont Road, is beside the Coomera River. The resident caretakers, John & Angie, take pride in what they have to offer. Divided into two sections both level with some shade the area is busy on weekends. Virtually opposite the ablution block on the northern side of the river is a track that goes to the river and is an excellent place to watch the platypuses which appear to be easily observed at any time during the day. Water from the river is suitable for showering and washing while there are also tanks that contain drinking water. We recommend James Sharp Park, if in the area which is not too far from Mount Tamborine, O’Reilys and Binnaburra.
