18th September 2008 - Brigalow Creek - Meandarra Camping Area - Meandarra, Queensland

Another fantastic country town. Meandarra, on the Surat Development Road between Mooney and Surat provides the camper with a camping site on the banks of Brigalow Creek and for $5.00 for three nights, it is an eye opener. Power, hot showers, picnic tables, level sites, shade, a dump point and a short walk to a hotel and the local shopping area are all part and parcel of this well tended park. At various sites within the town are relics of previous wars and include a Bren Gun Carrier, an American Grant Tank, a Canberra Bomber and an Amphibious Tractor (Water Buffalo). At the moment some the displays are being refurbished and are missing Also in the town is another caravan park that costs $5.00 per night with a free washing machine. However, this camp is further away from the creek. The towns people are most friendly and made us feel welcome at all times. An official opening of the “Meandarra ANZAC Memorial Museum” will take place on the 14th - 15th March 2009.
