Situated between Rockhampton (Marlborough) and Mackay (Sarina), St. Lawrence Sports Ground is well off the highway and within walking distance of the local shop and hotel. Located just short of the Railway Crossing, this rest area provides two areas for camping, one for those with generators and one for those without. Clean toilets and showers are provided with a $1.00 charge for a 3 minute hot shower. Also, there is a donation box for those considerate enough to donate a few dollars. There is also a laundry tub, a dump point and a fresh drinking water tap. As the site is close to the railway, train noise is fairly prevalent during the night and may annoy some campers. The local caretaker takes pride in the area and appreciates travellers leaving the area as they found it. This site is highly recommended for overnight camping on the way North or South Tropical North Queensland. -
