21st January 2010 - Balgal Beach - North Of Townsville

This exceptional camping site is reached by turning east off the Bruce Highway 1k South Of Rollingstone and travelling about 5k to the North end of town near the boat ramp . Although there is only about 8 sites available, we were fortunate enough to find the camping area empty during our stay. The sites are well shaded and level. Opposite the sites is a general store that has excellent take-aways. A dump point has been installed behind the clean toilet block and a stinger proof swimming enclosure is swept three times a day by a local life saver who also patrols the area. Good fishing spots are in abundance and the boat ramp provides easy access to the river. A time limit of 48 hours is enforced to allow all to enjoy this location. G
